Weapon Loading Trainer (WLT)
Realistic weapon loading training for the Eurofighter, without tying up operational aircraft.
The REISER Weapon Loading Trainer (WLT) is a full-scale Eurofighter mock-up for training loading procedures, team procedures and status verification. An external cockpit station displays the loading status and allows the weapon system to be checked. The system was developed together with EADS and maintenance teams of the German Air Force and is designed for many repeatable training cycles.

System & modules
Full-scale Eurofighter training systems for realistic loading procedures.
The WLT reproduces the Eurofighter at original size and connects the full-scale mock-up with an external cockpit station. The loading status is recorded during training and shown at the cockpit station.

Weapon Loading Trainer
The full-scale mock-up is around 16 meters long and has a wingspan of around 11 meters. It enables realistic training of weapon loading, unloading, team procedures and status verification, without tying up an operational aircraft for instruction.
Upgrade
Missile Ejection Launcher (MEL)
The MEL upgrade adds a further module to the Weapon Loading Trainer for the realistic handling, loading and unloading of guided missiles. This extends the range of practical procedures that can be trained and reduces the dependence on original aircraft parts.
Overview
Train loading, maintain readiness
Weapon loading has to be trained safely, precisely and regularly. The Weapon Loading Trainer reproduces the relevant procedures, controls and status information realistically, without tying up operational Eurofighter aircraft or original components for instruction.
The challenge
Weapon loading requires precise cooperation between several people and a reliable understanding of the procedures involved. Training on the operational aircraft ties up important resources and limits the number of practice cycles available.
The solution
The WLT combines a robust full-scale mock-up with an external cockpit station and integrated status sensing. Loading and unloading operations, team procedures and the verification of the loading status can therefore be trained repeatedly and under controlled conditions.

The system in detail
Mock-up, cockpit station and status sensing: the WLT covers the complete training sequence from weapon loading to status verification.
1
Full-scale Mock-up
The mock-up, around 16 meters long with a wingspan of about 11 meters, reproduces the Eurofighter at original size for loading instruction. The realistic geometry allows practical work sequences at the designated loading stations.

2
External cockpit station
The external cockpit station contains replicas of the required controls and displays the status of the loading process. The procedures can therefore be monitored and verified from the cockpit perspective.

MEL Upgrade
The MEL upgrade adds a module to the WLT for training on a Missile Ejection Launcher. It enables realistic practical instruction in the loading, unloading and handling of guided missiles.

Status sensing & instruction
The integrated status sensing records the loading status and shows it at the external cockpit station. The individual work steps can therefore be traced and trained under controlled conditions. The WLT was developed together with EADS and maintenance teams of the German Air Force and has been proven in training service over many years.

FAQ
Typical questions about the Weapon Loading Trainer.
Is the WLT available for other platforms?
The existing WLT is designed for the Eurofighter. Further training systems can be assessed on a project-specific basis, depending on the platform, the available data and the training objective.
Which training content does the WLT support?
The WLT supports training in weapon loading and unloading, team procedures, status verification and practical procedures in maintenance instruction. The MEL upgrade extends the scope to include the handling of a Missile Ejection Launcher.
How is the loading status verified?
The integrated status sensing records the loading condition and shows it at the external cockpit station. The individual work steps can therefore be traced and trained under controlled conditions.
How was the WLT developed?
The Weapon Loading Trainer was developed together with EADS and maintenance teams of the German Air Force. Its long service at the Air Force Maintenance School in Kaufbeuren confirms the practical suitability of the system.
Can the MEL be integrated as an extension?
Yes. The Missile Ejection Launcher is intended as an upgrade or module for the Weapon Loading Trainer. The exact configuration is agreed on a project basis.
