Flight Training Device (XR)
A full Flight Training Device with an innovative visual system option.
The REISER XR-SIM is a full Flight Training Device (FTD). Using a chroma key process, it combines a high-quality cockpit replica with a virtual outside world. Crew members train on real controls and at the same time experience a dynamic, computer-generated environment. Close to the ground in particular, the solution improves depth perception. Two crew members can train at the same time in the same cockpit, under identical visual and operational conditions.

Overview
Real cockpit. Virtual world. Joint training.
The XR-SIM is a full Flight Training Device for qualified MCC training. It combines a real cockpit with a virtual outside world and enables joint training of procedures, communication and decision-making.
The challenge
Professional helicopter training has to do more than reproduce individual operating sequences. Crew members have to communicate, align their decisions and carry out their tasks in the same cockpit under identical conditions. At the same time, training scenarios should adapt flexibly to different operational requirements.
The solution
XR-SIM brings both together, the haptic reality of a scale cockpit and the adaptability of a virtual outside world. Two pilots train at the same time in the same cockpit, share the same view and experience the same operational situation. Communication, crew coordination, procedures and decision-making become trainable in a true-to-life and repeatable way.
The benefits
Real cockpit with authentic controls
Qualified MCC training
Identical visual and operational conditions
Precise tracking and synchronized mixed reality
Typical application scenarios

The system in detail
XR-SIM combines a physical cockpit, mixed reality visuals, tracking, training software and interfaces into one integrated training environment. The system runs on its own or connects into existing Full Flight Simulator and training structures.
1
Visual System
The virtual outside world extends the real cockpit with an immersive visual simulation for dynamic flight and mission scenarios. Precise tracking aligns virtual content with the real cockpit position. Both crew members see the same visual situation.
Immersive virtual outside world
Dynamic flight and mission scenarios
Precise alignment of cockpit and virtual environment
Identical visual conditions for both crew members
Mixed reality training with Varjo technology
2
Cockpit & Hardware
The physical cockpit is built as a scale replica of the respective helicopter type. Real controls, instruments and the familiar ergonomics allow training directly on the hardware.

FAQ
Typical questions about XR-SIM, from mixed reality training to integration.
What is the REISER XR-SIM?
XR-SIM is a mixed reality helicopter simulator from REISER. The system combines a scale physical cockpit with an immersive virtual outside world. Pilots operate real controls and train in dynamic virtual flight and mission scenarios.
Can two pilots train in the XR-SIM at the same time?
Yes. XR-SIM was developed for joint multi-crew training. Two pilots train at the same time in the same cockpit and share the same view, the same flight conditions and the same operational situation. Communication, coordination and decision-making can therefore be trained as a crew.
Which aircraft types is XR-SIM available for?
The cockpit modules shown on this product page cover the H145 D3 and the H135. Further cockpit variants can be assessed depending on the training objective, the data basis and the project scope.
Can XR-SIM be operated on its own?
Yes. The modular cockpit can be operated as a standalone mixed reality training device. Alternatively it integrates into a Full Flight Simulator environment or an existing training concept.
How are the real cockpit and the virtual environment synchronized?
High-precision tracking and synchronization align the position of the real cockpit with the virtual environment. Cockpit interaction, view and virtual scenarios stay consistent and identical for both crew members.
Which training is XR-SIM suitable for?
XR-SIM is suitable for pilot training, mission training and advanced crew procedures. Depending on the version, cockpit and procedures training, crew coordination and mission-related sequences can be trained, among others.
What qualification does the H145 XR-SIM have?
The H145 XR-SIM version was assessed by the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA) and classified as “Ready for Training”. This statement refers to the specific H145 XR-SIM version. The exact scope of use follows from the respective system and project documentation.
