After working for several years at an aircraft manufacturer in Austria, I was contacted by a recruitment agency. At the time the name Reiser Simulation and Training was completely new to me and I went into a first conversation with few expectations. In fact I came away from that conversation with a very positive first impression, shaped above all by the tasks described for a development engineer and by the interesting product portfolio. I am drawn to products where you can be involved from development through to final assembly. And I think that is exactly what brought me to Reiser Simulation and Training.

When, after a relatively short time at the company, I was offered the role of deputy head of the mechanical engineering department, I was initially a little hesitant. On the one hand my previous field of work had been a very good fit, on the other I initially had concerns about acceptance in the team. At that point I had only been directly employed by the company for a year. Even so, I saw the offer as a chance to broaden my personal horizons, and I saw a lot of potential in the team for how work and processes could be improved. My mind was made up, and I was more than pleasantly surprised by the acceptance and the cooperative atmosphere in the team. In my view that is also a clear strength of the company: the open, cooperative and honest communication culture.

Of course my day-to-day work changed very quickly with the new role. During onboarding I noticed how my screen time shifted from CATIA V5 to Excel and MindManager and how the periods of concentration in which you lose yourself in design work became ever shorter. At the same time I also saw how we as a team managed to deliver projects on schedule and to create more room for everyone involved to shape things. I still see one of the greatest challenges in the team as maintaining knowledge transfer within the highly specialized disciplines in the department. The goal is to keep the ever faster growing and constantly changing expertise in the department and to communicate it internally in such a way that, thanks to strong knowledge transfer, we remain flexible as a team.

After a good year in my new field of work my personal assessment is definitely positive. Of course there were times with setbacks, or the realization that development within the team repeatedly has to take a back seat to project business. On the other hand, the new challenges allowed me to develop extremely quickly and to try things that had not been possible before. The cross-departmental topics that move the company forward as a whole and the forward-looking mindset are what motivate me. In the end I can recommend Reiser Simulation and Training GmbH to anyone looking for a job with room for initiative and constant challenges. Anyone who enjoys variety, scope to shape things, a certain kind of tinkering and playing an active part in processes will certainly be in the right place here.
